Management Services
Many
projects require tremendous amounts of coordination. Several
hundred people could be involved in any given project. Ideas
passed on from owners to designers, in turn need to be passed
to consultants, design staff, end users, franchises etc.,
then somehow translated to manufacturers and contractors.
Experience dictates that unless a project is properly managed,
this process can be a little like the "telephone game".
By the time it gets to the end of the line, the idea may have
completely changed from the original one - all due to a lack
of communication.
In any relationship, communication is what makes it work –
especially between the owner and designer. We at The UI Group
are proud of our ability to rise to the occasion and control
a large group of people and ideas and transmit that information
down the line to the finished product. We like to provide
project management services because of our ability to see
the "whole picture" and more importantly to be able
to control the outcome. Using state of the art project management
software, we carry a database of information with us always,
wherever we go.
Some
projects, such as room renovations, can be done using UI as
project manager and in-house staff, such as engineering and
housekeeping, to allow various trade access. Over the past
nine years we have used and continue to use this process for
capital renovation projects. If the project is not large enough
to bring in a general contractor or even a site superintendent,
we will coordinate everything from design, costing, purchasing
and scheduling so the process tends to run quite smoothly.
Weekly meetings with key personnel are paramount.
We
also provide full service project management, which allows
for full time site supervision and budget control. All Metropolitan
Hotel work used this format in the past. All 6 locations for
Sen5es Bakery and Restaurant Brand were also successfully
completed using this method.
